Double Glazing

A Single pane of glass provides very poor insulation because glass is a good conductor of heat, therefore much of the heat in your room literally goes out the window.

Install Double Glazing, and you have a layer of air trapped between two panes. Air is a poor conductor so far less heat is lost through the window.

Double Glazing has many benefits including....

  • Reduced Heat Loss in Winter
  • Reduced Heat Gain is Summer
  • Conserve Energy in both Heating & Cooling Costs
  • Noise Reduction
  • Condensation Reduction
  • Creates a Healthy Home

We often convert Single Glazed Aluminium Windows to Double Glazed.

This is a simple process of removing the existing glass and installing a brand new sealed double glazed unit in its place. We simply renew the bead on the fixed panes and replace the sash on the openers.

Below is a picture showing the difference between a single glazed bead and a double glazed bead.

A Standard Woodern Frame with Adaptaglaze Installed

You will note a slightly Aluminium look from the outside, But generally the style of the timber window has been retained.

This window suddenly stopped collecting condensation, saving the lady of the house time each morning, it also made the bedroom feel much warmer at night and in the morning.

Because it also faces a street, road noise has been dramatically reduced. From the inside looking out there is very little difference.

The Adaptaglaze has been installed using the Rebated Install method, therefore the only visible Aluminium from the inside is approximately 2mm all round where the Timber meets the glass.

The sashes still open exactly as they did before, They feel a lot stronger now though and are far less likely to twist.

This window would take approximately 2 hours for 1 man to convert. Because our specially developed tool actually enlarges the glazing rebate to accept the Adaptaglaze, There is no broken glass.

The existing glass comes out in one piece with a little extra timber attached around the perimeter.
